As a small business owner and advocate for the taxpayer, I am committed to fiscal responsibility and budgetary accountability. North Carolina needs leaders who support policies that result in economic growth and job creation -- not tax increases. North Carolinians deserve to keep more of their hard-earned money to support their families. North Carolina politicians need to be accountable to taxpayers by using a cost-benefit approach to spending for State needs.
Supports strong North Carolina schools, quality education for our children, our hard-working teachers, and the empowerment of families to make the best educational choices for their children. I support school choice. We can achieve excellence in education and student performance through expanding opportunity in educational options, including work-based programs. No longer should a family's income or zip code dictate access to a better school. As the mother of two children in the Wake County Public School System, PTA President, Founder and Director of a non-profit serving community youth in music arts, I will continue to fight for children, families and top quality education in NC.
Ensuring our communities are safe for citizens - especially our children - is my priority. We need to make sure criminals are kept off of our streets. I support legislation that would require NC sheriffs to honor detention requests from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE.
Now more than ever, the people of North Carolina need a strong leader in the legislature to defend your constitutional rights. I will defend against efforts to infringe on your Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Second amendment supporters have an advocate in me.
Leadership is needed in the General Assembly to lower the cost of healthcare in North Carolina. This can be done through expanding the competitive healthcare marketplace, innovative solutions that control costs, and reigning in government mandates. As the sister of a disabled adult who does not live independently, with continuing life-saving healthcare needs stemming from a medical condition at birth, I understand the need for free-market driven solutions that foster competition in healthcare to help reduce costs and achieve better outcomes.
Strong supporter of Voter ID, along with the more than 2 million North Carolinians who voted for a common-sense Voter ID law last year. I will actively support Voter ID in the legislature. We need leadership on this issue now more than ever, as we have recently seen an activist judge block the implementation of a people approved Voter ID law.
District 37 is a wonderful place , full of opportunity, hope for the future, and richness of life. We are growing fast and transportation needs and improvements are at the forefront of the minds of many people. We need leadership on the State level to be an advocate for our district and harness resources available to meet our needs now and in the future . I will be the leader District 37 needs.
