AFFORDABILITY

Cut income taxes by 30% since elected to office. Introduced legislation to eliminate the grocery tax, and the tax on prescription drugs. Leading the charge for property tax reduction and reform in the House. Passed the Power Bill Protection Act which will save the public an estimated $15 billion on their utility bills. Passed the Ratepayer Protection Act which holds data centers accountable, requiring them to supply their own power. Primary sponsor of a bill to require large utility companies to absorb the cost of their fuel instead of passing those costs on to you. Championed a sales tax holiday for back-to-school supplies in the House budget. Secured over $40 million in state funding for water/wastewater infrastructure for Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs to off-set rate increases by local government. Produced a balanced budget every legislative cycle and achieved national recognition as the number one (or two) best economy in the nation for the past four years.

Led the passage of the largest overall veteran teacher pay raise in two decades and the largest recruitment and retention starting teacher pay raise in 50 years.

Increased per pupil funding, increased school funding, increased funding for students with disabilities.

Served as the chair of the Select Committee on Advancing Women in STEM which resulted in investments in hands-on STEM learning grants for all students aimed at strengthening the STEM workforce pipeline.

As budget chair, invested millions in NC Community Colleges and workforce readiness initiatives, as well as state funded programs which contributed to the highest proficiency and graduation rates in years, exceeding pre-pandemic levels.

Mom of two Wake County public school students, a past PTA president, and consistent champion for excellent NC public schools and parental school choice programs.

Leads the charge for Property Tax Reduction and Reform at the General Assembly. Filed legislation expand the homestead exemption for seniors. Sponsored legislation to close costly loopholes in law and provide for reasonable limits on out-of-control property tax increases.

Secured funding in the state budget for a new, 4x expanded and fully staffed DMV in Fuquay-Varina.  This new location will serve as a combined driver's license and motor vehicle registration office. This is a big win for southern Wake County and will dramatically reduce wait times, improve the customer service experience, and increase appointments.

Primary sponsor of HB 574 "Fairness in Women's Sports Act" - which prevents biological men who are transgender from competing against girls in sports. As the mom of two competitive high school athletes, protecting fairness in women's sports is important to me.

Named "Defender of Public Safety" by the NC Sheriff's Association, endorsed by the Police Benevolent Association, endorsed by both retired Chiefs of Police for Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs. 

Passed HB 307 "Iryna's Law," which created stricter pretrial release bond rules for people accused of violent offenses. Supported legislation to strengthen border protection and combat illegal immigration. 

As a budget chair, I secured state funding for the highest law enforcement pay raises in history, state funded local law enforcement bonuses, ten additional Wake County Deputy Clerk positions, over $100 million in school safety grants since elected, near $2 million for Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs police and fire departments, and a state grant to the Wake Sheriff's Office to support deputies and staff.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Returned over $70 million in state tax dollars back to Southern Wake County for road improvements and critical clean water/wastewater infrastructure. Secured $2,000,000 in the 2026 state budget for capital improvements to Piney Grove Wilbon Road including two turn lanes and signalization to provide relief to nearby residents and travelers from both Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs. Supports a responsible approach to growth, making sure school capacity and critical infrastructure needs are met ahead of approved growth by local governments.

Introduced and passed legislation halting ETJ expansion in Wake County. As a House Budget chair, I prioritized and included Farmland Preservation funding in the 2026 Budget.  I am the daughter and granddaughter of farmers - I will always support our NC farmers.

HEALTHCARE

HEALTHCARE

Introduced and passed legislation to create new small employer health insurance plans to increase access to healthcare and improve affordability. Introduced a bill to make prescription drugs tax free. Fully funded Medicaid in the state budget. 

Fighting the insurance industry to make sure all women get the breast cancer screening that they need.

Prioritized funding for behavioral health, particularly in Wake County. Passed a bill that improves how the state handles involuntary mental health commitments and requires state agencies to develop new behavioral health programs to keep patients connected to care.
